The cold weather affects the production of fishermen. Currently, aquaculture farmers in Lộc Hà district implement many measures such as: supplementing minerals, raising pond water level, net fins, covering the roof of indoor tanks, increasing the use of aeration…
There are about 15 hectares of newly cultivated vannamei shrimp to seed the winter season in Lộc Hà, along with 150 hectares of ponds for freshwater and brackish fish such as red tilapia, monosexual tilapia, tench, seabass,…The prevention of cold for shrimp and fish is being focused on implementation, this is considered a key factor to the results of the crop.
For example, Mr. Truong Loc (Hộ Độ village, Lộc Hà town) stocked winter shrimp on an area of nearly a hectare. With many years of farming experience, Mr. Loc has also proactively prepared cold prevention conditions for his pond. Before that, he added 30 centimeters of water to the pond and beat the bottom microorganisms soaked from molasses with original EM.
And Mr. Tran Van Minh (Lộc Hà town) is also urgently fighting the cold for 20 indoor high-tech white shrimp tanks. If the previous occasion, he had to pull the roof over the house to get the sun, he would ask someone to pull the roof over and light the heater to keep the house warm in these days. Along with shrimp, many areas for raising salty and brackish fish in Lộc Hà are also being carefully cared for in this cold season.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lộc Hà District, to cope with the cold, the District People’s Committee issued a direction for the protection of plants and animals, especially for aquaculture. The Department has implemented the contents directed by the District People’s Committee and farmers also actively implement integrated anti-cold measures, suitable for each cultured object. In particular, remind people to pay attention to protect the environment and epidemics in adverse weather conditions; guide the adjustment of the diet towards quality enhancement, reduction in quantity, and supplementation of Vitamin C and minerals; guide when the temperature drops below 18o C, reduce 50 – 60% of the feed weight, and when below 14o C, stop feeding and don’t catch.
