At this exhibition, the delegation aims to exchange ideas, meet with stakeholders in the Mekong Delta region, and especially in Ca Mau province – the area with the largest shrimp acreage and production in our country – to understand the local agricultural context and the demands for smart agriculture from farmers in facing climate change.

Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) is a vital approach to help farmers adapt to climate change and enhance food security. Leaders and senior executives from 13 businesses and organizations within Australia’s CSA ecosystem will be invited to join the delegation to directly explore the challenges and opportunities in the shrimp and aquaculture sector in Vietnam.

Participating companies in the delegation include technology providers and research organizations in the shrimp and aquaculture industry such as: Genics, Polygain, Food Recycle, Pacific Bio, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Companies interested in direct exchanges are encouraged to contact Project Director Lily Tao (lily@beanstalkagtech.com) or Project Manager at MBI Innovation Challenges, Van Anh (vananh@mbi.net.vn; Phone: 0973868772).

Genics, a biotechnology company headquartered in Australia, began operations in 2018, specializing in diagnosing and monitoring shrimp diseases.

Polygain harnesses the power of nature to revolutionize animal nutrition, increasing profitability for farmers and environmental sustainability. Polygain’s patented technology extracts powerful antioxidant polyphenols from sugarcane, creating feed additives that significantly improve animal health and productivity.

Food Recycle is an Australian technology startup established to address global food waste issues. The company has pending patent technology to convert all commercial food waste into high-efficiency animal feed.

Pacific Bio has developed RegenAquaTM & PlantJuiceTM as a closed-loop system to provide natural-based solutions for wastewater treatment, agriculture, and aquaculture. Wastewater from shrimp production or urban wastewater treatment processes is directed to Pacific Bio’s channels, where algae thrive by extracting valuable nutrients, simultaneously cleaning water for safe return to the environment.

CSIRO researches aquaculture to enhance the value, competitiveness, and sustainability of Australia’s aquaculture industry. In Vietnam, CSIRO has collaborated with Viet-UC Seafood Corporation, Minh Phu Seafood Corporation, and Binh Minh Capital. The organization’s research and development strategy aim to improve cost-effectiveness and reliability of production systems, strengthen animal health and disease management, and innovate production technology. The participation of this business delegation promises to bring many opportunities for collaboration and sharing of useful information about smart agriculture solutions adapting to climate change to managers, scientists, experts, and passionate businesses in Vietnam’s shrimp industry.
